Welcome to Luka. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information when you use the Luka mobile application (the "App"). Luka helps users create, listen to, save, and explore AI-generated stories.

By downloading, installing, accessing, or using Luka, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Account, Device, and Support Information

• Account information: If you create or use an account, we may collect identifiers such as an email address, account ID, device-linked story ID, authentication information, and subscription status.
• Device information: Device model, operating system version, app version, locale, time zone, device settings, and a randomly generated identifier used to keep your library, purchases, and usage secure. We do not use Apple's IDFA for this purpose unless separately disclosed and consented to where required.
• Customer support: If you contact us, we collect the information you provide, including your email address, message content, screenshots you voluntarily send to support, and diagnostic details needed to resolve your request.
• Payment information: In-app purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not directly collect or store credit card numbers.

1.2 Story and Creative Content

When you use Luka, we process the content needed to provide story creation and listening features, including:

• Text prompts, selected themes, story elements, age range, language, genre, story length, and user choices in interactive stories.
• Character names, character descriptions, saved protagonist information, and story continuity details.
• Generated story text, story titles, summaries, tags, cover information, audio files, and related metadata.
• Explore publishing information if you choose to share a completed story publicly inside the App.

1.3 Usage, Analytics, and Logs

• Usage data: Features used, story generation counts, session duration, button interactions, language preferences, library activity, and subscription or credit usage.
• Technical logs: IP address, request timestamps, API errors, crash reports, performance data, and security logs.
• Push notification data: If you enable push notifications, we may collect and store push tokens and notification interaction data to deliver reminders and product updates.

2. Google and Other Third-Party Services

We do not send user-uploaded personal photos to Google because Luka does not require or support personal photo uploads for its core story features. We do not use your story prompts or generated stories to train our own AI models. Google processes data according to its applicable service terms, including Google Cloud and Gemini API data processing terms where applicable.

3. How We Use Information

• Provide AI story generation, story continuation, narration audio, library sync, character saving, Explore browsing, and related App features.
• Process subscriptions, credits, refunds, purchase restoration, and entitlement checks.
• Moderate content and maintain a family-friendly storytelling environment.
• Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, security incidents, technical issues, and violations of our Terms of Service.
• Improve App reliability, performance, user experience, and feature quality through analytics and debugging.
• Respond to support requests and send important service notices.

4. Photos, Face Data, and Biometric Information

Luka does not require users to upload personal photos and does not collect or store personal photos as part of its story creation features. Luka does not perform face detection, facial recognition, facial feature extraction, face matching, identity verification, age estimation from faces, emotion detection from faces, or any biometric analysis.

If you voluntarily type personal details into a story prompt, such as a name or description, that text is processed as ordinary text input for generating the story you requested. Please avoid entering sensitive personal information that is not necessary for your story.

5. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information only in the following circumstances:

• Service providers: With vendors who help us operate the App, such as Google, Adapty, Apple, hosting, storage, analytics, and support providers.
• Public sharing: If you choose to publish a story to Explore, the story content and related public metadata may be visible to other users. Explore listings are designed not to expose private account identity.
• Legal and safety reasons: If required by law, court order, or governmental request, or when necessary to protect users, the public, our rights, or the security of the App.
• Business transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate privacy protections.
• With your consent: When you explicitly ask us to share information or connect to a third-party service.

6. Data Retention

• Account and entitlement data: Retained while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward for security, legal, tax, and dispute-resolution purposes.
• Story library data: Saved stories, characters, generated text, audio files, and related metadata are retained so you can access your library unless you delete them or delete your account.
• Generation sessions: Temporary generation state may be retained for a limited time to recover interrupted stories and support story continuation.
• Published Explore stories: Publicly shared stories may remain available until removed by you, by moderation, or by us according to product policy.
• Logs and analytics: Usually retained for up to 24 months unless a longer period is needed for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or legitimate business purposes.
• Personal photos: Not retained because Luka does not collect or store users' personal photos.

7. Security

We use reasonable technical, administrative, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, including encryption in transit, access controls, monitoring, and security logging. No internet service can be guaranteed to be 100% secure, so we cannot promise absolute security.

8. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, object to, or restrict certain processing of your personal information. You may also withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. To exercise these rights, contact us at the email address below.

You may manage subscriptions through your Apple App Store account. You may manage push notifications in iOS settings. You may delete your account or saved content through the App where supported, or by contacting support.

9. Children's Privacy

Luka is designed for family-friendly story creation and may be used by parents, guardians, and families. Users must be at least 13 years old or the applicable age of digital consent in their jurisdiction to create or manage an account unless a parent or legal guardian provides appropriate consent and supervision.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without required parental consent. If you believe a child has provided personal information without appropriate consent, please contact us and we will take appropriate action.

10. International Data Transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than your country of residence, including the United States, where Google and other providers may operate. We use appropriate safeguards where required by applicable law.

11. California and Other Regional Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident or live in another jurisdiction with privacy rights, you may have additional rights, including the right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of certain sharing. We do not sell personal information. Contact us to exercise applicable rights.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date and provide notice where required. Your continued use of Luka after changes become effective means you accept the updated policy.
